People who live in Northern Nevada's 2nd Congressional District trust James Settelmeyer. His family has lived here for 4 generations, he's served in the Nevada Legislature for 16 years, and served in Governor Lombardo's administration as Director of Conservation and Natural Resources. People trust James Settelmeyer in Northern Nevada.

James Settelmeyer made Nevada history, defeating Governor Sisolak and Democratic lawmakers after they tried increasing taxes without the constitutionally required two-thirds vote. Using his own resources to defend every Nevadan from this assault, he prevailed at the Nevada Supreme Court with the historical "Settelmeyer Decision". That is trust at the Nevada Supreme Court every Nevadan can thank James Settelmeyer for, he can be trusted to represent Congressional District 2, and the entire State of Nevada.

Imagine the surprise everyone in Northern Nevada had on March 6 when David Flippo decided to parachute in from Las Vegas. Like China asserting its right to Taiwan, David Flippo made the wild claim that, "MAGA leaders in Washington asked him to get in the race". MAGA leaders in Washington do not live in Northern Nevada. David Flippo made this announcement in Washington D.C., not Northern Nevada.

David Flippo does not even live in Northern Nevada, he's spent the last 4 years trying to get elected in Las Vegas and failed. When asked repeatedly about this question, Mr. Flippo claimed he had just "rented" a house in Reno. His Federal campaign contribution report did not support this claim, using over $10,000 to rent a 6 bedroom house, making it illegal to claim that as his home. When questioned, his campaign claimed it was being used for staff, which is legal. So which one is it? Mr. Flippo's answers have been defensive, claiming his home is "everywhere in America" because he's moved around so much. Media reports show his home and voter registration still in Las Vegas, where his vote will be cast, just not for himself. You can not trust David Flippo to be honest even about where he actually lives.

Then there are the faithful supporters of David Flippo in Las Vegas, Nevada Congressional District 4. Imagine the horror on March 6 after supporting him for 4 years, to be informed that Mr. Flippo had abandoned his post in District 4, to run in District 2, and crazy Ronda Kennedy would be taking his place. Political consultants made these decisions, not the candidates, a violation of trust the Republicans in District 4 will never forget.

We can all pretend for a moment that David Flippo wins the Republican primary, sure. The day after he does the attack ads with begin with all these facts from former Miss Nevada Theresa Benitez-Thomson. There is a real danger that Mr. Flippo could hand this seat to the Democrats. Are Republicans willing to risk that, by trusting Mr. Flippo can win in November by beating someone he's never heard of and knows nothing about?

We can pretend for a moment that David Flippo actually wins the election in November. That is when the clock will start ticking in Mr. Flippo's head, as he is an opportunist. Using everyone in Northern Nevada, he will leverage and parachute himself into something else. Serving in Congress for District 2 will not be good enough, he will want something bigger, he will "not sit silently by", while these opportunities emerge. That is the moment we will all get the text, "MAGA leaders in Washington want me to serve in the Department of..(you fill in the blank).", or some other weird desertion message. The Republicans in District 4 know, are the voters in District 2 going to be next? That is when Governor Lombardo will appoint James Settelmeyer to represent District 2, after Mr. Fillpo goes AWOL.

The darker scenario is David Flippo hands this important seat to the Democrats with a botched campaign in the general election that hands the seat to Theresa Benitez-Thompson, potentially destroying the Republican majority in Congress. That is the box Mr. Flippo is hoping to put the voters in District 2 in, support him or you get her. Mr. Flippo is holding our future hostage for his own personal gain, without asking if that is ok. Otherwise, James Settelmeyer will be the Congressman representing District 2, one way or another.

James Settelmeyer enjoys wide endorsements across Northern Nevada, that is real trust when we need it the most. That is what ultimately the campaign for Nevada Congressional District 2 is about, trust.

David Flippo failed to gain that trust, and ultimately his failures could lead to a Democrat in this important office, and possibly destroy the Republican majority in Congress, because of his selfish desire to be a politician instead of serving a community he is part of. David Flippo is not worth that risk, after the election he goes home to Las Vegas, the rest of us live here.

Nobody is questioning Mr. Flippo's military service, however, it does not automatically entitle him to be in the House of Representatives from District 2.

Mr. Flippo . . . . please go home.
